2025 Badger Football Thread

You have to look at who he was competing against as a whole, which basically takes the luster out of his numbers, not sure he's the best UW can do out there at all.
Agree his numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm just pointing out that he's not a complete scrub and I feel you really can't just settle for Carter Smith and a couple of cheap roster fillers and expect to win more than a few games.

I really don't know who they can get for that kind of money. We'll see where the top guys end up and for what kind of money.

Edwards easiest $1 million ever made to play less then half a game.

In his defense, when UW is offering 2 million to someone else to start.... You leave. Smith will follow him.
agree that Smith will follow. Though IMO Carter Smith you get the same type of QB a run first pass second QB I would have saved 2 million and kept Smith.

Carter Smith reminds me a bit of Tyler Donovan, a Badger QB from years ago. Another tough hardnosed guy who took 3 years to develop and then was only so-so as a passer. I'd like to see him stay, but he'll only be a RS-freshman next year and needs another couple of years. I doubt he'll ever be a great passer but maybe in time he'd be serviceable.

I really don't get the concern about a running QB. It fits Jeff Grimes scheme - he likes the QB to be a running weapon. Joseph isn't a run first QB - he has far more throws than runs. It's just that he's a run "capable" QB, something they haven't had since maybe Russell Wilson. I do have concerns about Joseph at this level but he's at least played in more than a handful of games. I suspect he'll be just average.
