Post Game GB at Dallas: OT ends in tie game. 40-40

Say what you want about the o-line, but they scored 40 points. Averaged more than 4yds per carry even if you take away the 25 yd Love scramble. You should win every damn game you play with those numbers.

Yes, the o-line is mediocre right now, but this game was lost by the defense and special teams, pure and simple.

I'll give the defense a pass until this becomes a pattern, but special teams is a pattern and nothing gets changed.

Lastly, what the heck was going on the last minute of overtime.

ML needs to send a statement fire Richie B during the bye week and promote someone to the interm ST coordinator. Say that he felt they are not getting the results he expects so that it will hopefully provide a change.

This game was exhausting to watch and to process. There's a million things I could complain about or laud, but I don't want to lose sight of the forrest for the trees. Big picture:

  • Jordan Love single handedly kept them in the game and prevented a loss. He lead what should've been the 4th quarter game winning drive. He led the game tying FG drive with 35 seconds to work with. He had them in position to throw a game winning TD pass at the end of OT, including converting a massive 4th and 6. He's been overall excellent this year, and there is still another level for him to hit. Him playing at this level is really what the season is about.
  • In 4 games, the defense played outstanding in 3 of those games and absolutely collapsed in this one. FlaPack used to always talk about "12 and 17" covering up major warts on the offense. Well, "1" has been covering up a lot of warts on the defense, he was hogtied, held and kept down for 99% of the game and the rest of the guys simply didn't step up or hold up. (Lowkey, one of the few plays he got loose he downright saved the game in OT). Tackling was poor, Edge Cooper had an inexplicably poor game, rally tackling disappeared, the secondary got gassed and exposed, and the DL depth simply buckled. Nazir Stackhouse played 33 snaps. 33! That can't happen for him. The Wyatt injury was devastating because they did not have any interior depth. He's a big man AND a pass rusher. Going forward they're going to need to make some game day roster decision changes, even if Wyatt is up they probably need to start having Brinson up as well, because those guys need to rotate. So two issues here: 1, depth, which is TBD with injuries, and 2. something in Hafley's game plans got exposed because Dallas was able to run the ball and quick game them to death. He'll have to get that sorted and maybe be more prepared with blitz packages to run if the 4 man rush disappears again like it did last night.
  • ML/Gute - Lot of people play favorites here but I'm not going to. I wanted to say so much more about both of them but it's September and I'm not there yet, there's a long way to go. Suffice to say, there are "reasons" and there are "excuses" and I'm tired of the excuses for both of these guys. Too much experience here and too little accountability. The strengths are obvious with both but so are the weaknesses, and both need to address those weaknesses over the next couple weeks if this season is going to go anywhere.

Also saw on end that Dak should have been called for grounding near end of game as he threw it away in pocket with no one close to him?
yes, even the "in booth" referee was confused why they said "there was a receiver in the vicinity" when there was no receiver within 20 yards. They also seemed to not want to call "Holding" or "block in the back" which I saw numerous times from the Dallas OL.

Let's be honest here though, the refs could've had Dallas starting from the parking lot behind the stadium and it wouldn't have mattered, the Packer D simply ceased to function by the 4th quarter.
