This was an unexpectedly easy game - which was good to see for a change. A few real butt-whoopin's every season are fun, even though the second half of the game has little to no suspense.
My keys to the season:
Kicking game: Another step backward for Narveson. The most concerning thing is that on the one he missed, he didn't even seem to have much more distance, so not only does he not have an accurate leg, he probably can't get it there from anything more than 50yds. They don't have much choice right now but this is a dismal off-season failure by Gute.
Run defense: A decent performance. They certainly aren't dominating, but they aren't letting anyone run wild on them. They'd be even better if Walker and McDuffie were better. For now, I'm hoping it's the scheme change, but Walker wasn't good in the last scheme, so I'm starting to think he's just never gonna live up to his Rd1 status and athletic ability. What is excellent is that they finally have a coach/scheme/players that are capable of containing dynamic running QB's.
Inexperience at QB: JLove had another really nice outing and he seems to have turned a bit of a corner with the knee. He still makes a few more questionable throws than AR used to. He's probably somewhere between Rodgers and Favre in terms of risky throws and maybe that's a good thing.
My only other things to mention is that Evan Williams has been a surprise at safety. He's way better than I expected and has to be a big part of the defense going forward in some way. On the flip side, Eric Stokes just looks lost out there. I think he might be done as a Packer after this season. CB is looming as a top need this coming off-season.
