Official Week 6 Green Bay vs Arizona Thread

FitzPatrick (6-7, 250) was a sixth-round pick (213th overall) of the Falcons in the 2022 draft. He spent the 2022 season on injured reserve but played in nine games for the Falcons last season, catching one pass for 12 yards. He was on the field for 18 offensive snaps and 83 special teams snaps.

Of the 18 snaps, FitzPatrick was a run blocker on 11.

Over three preseasons with the Falcons, FitzPatrick caught nine passes on 16 targets for 68 yards. He dropped two passes. His best ability is blocking, and he received solid run-blocking grades from PFF over 92 run-blocking snaps.

At Georgia, FitzPatrick appeared in 38 games, making 13 starts. He caught 17 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown but was primarily used as an inline blocking tight end.

“He’s the guy who does the dirty work,” Falcons scout Shepley Heard said following the 2022 draft. “He’s the blocking tight end. He’s big, physical, tough, nasty, always trying to finish guys.”
Sounds like a JAG roster guy who is there just to help fill a spot and in case of emergncy needing a blocking TE on gameday.

ML said Musgrave probably going to IR with the ankle, he toughed it out last week but they want him to rest it. Hence the signing.
So guess Sims will get a lot more action now as the temp #2

FWIW, the injury to Musgrave sounds pretty bad. ML said he'll be down for "some time". Not season ending but could be a big chunk of the year.
Upside is Kraft was the one developing into a all around TE. Musgrave is looking nothing more then a straight line TE/WR type.

Adding a historically good blocking TE who can also be the third TE available if one of the top 2 goes down with an injury. I can't see a downside here. I see it as a chess move, to help protect the king (QB), when one of our rooks (OTs) fails to cover the flanks.

If we really want to protect our QB, can't we get pur offensive linemen out of those roller skates?
