Pack to sign Funchess?

Maybe they want to convert him to TE. I think he's played TE in college. He's got the size.
Would not mind trying him as a TE but doubt team does that

from tom silverstein: "One thing to note about Funchess: his catch percentages are terrible. In 2018, he ranked 64th in the NFC, bringing in just 55.7% of the throws his way. In ’17, he ranked 56th in the NFC at 56.8%."

Highest WR Drop Rates in 2018:
1. Devin Funchess: 13.9%
2. Laquon Treadwell: 13.2%
3. John Ross: 12.1%
4. Keelan Cole: 10.0%
5. Randall Cobb: 9.8%
6. Demaryius Thomas: 9.0%
7. Kelvin Benjamin: 9.0%
8. Corey Davis: 8.9%
9. Golden Tate: 8.8%
10. Antonio Callaway: 8.6%

Funchess runs 4.7, doesn't separate and catches around 50 percent of his total targets. He doesn't fill any need or role for the Packers. I don't understand it.

I would have rather signed Josh Gordon weed is ok now in the NFL.

We need to be in fewer 3rd and long situations.

I've read that he's a good blocker for a WR - helps the run game? No numbers on the deal yet so I won't say it's wasted money until I see how much they wasted. With any luck in the draft and continued development from the guys we have he hopefully won't be anything more than a #4/5 guy by mid-season.

SMH don't know why some people are acting like this is a great signing and he's our #2 WR. You don't want a #2 WR to be a guy who was signed after pretty much everyone else at WR in FA signed and signed for a cheap 1 year deal and has a poor catch rate. This is the type of guy you sign to be your 4/5 WR and not count on to be a #2.

as underwhelming as his stats may be, he was still ranked #58 among the top 64 wide receivers in 2018. that makes him (just barely) worthy of being a #2 receiver. of course that was before the injury. we have no idea what he is now.
