This is why no Packer fans should be bitching we are not signing more big name guys. If this is correct at $18.7 million in cap space to spend with Kraft and Watson contracts to account for if and when they sign new deals alot of this $18.7 million gets eaten up.
I like this. Do you think we keep Musgrave only because he's on the last year of his rookie contract; therefore, he probably economically fits? He knows the system, arguably could be a stop gap until Kraft fully recovers (Kraft better be made to fully recover before he's back on the field - And, I know Musgrave has had ample opportunity to do something - anything and hasn't, but it's his contract year, maybe he'll turn it on), and gives us one more year to see if he can do anything.Packers are re-signing tight end Josh Whyle
Practice squad players make $13,000 per week if they have two years or less of service time in the NFL. If they remain on the practice squad for all 18 weeks of a regular season, they would earn $234,000. If they stay on a practice squad for a team that reaches a Super Bowl, they would earn at least $286,000 on the season, not including possible playoff bonuses.$4M to sign the practice squad? That's approximately $235K / practice squad player. Sounds crazy, but God for them.
And, now I'm even more confused about preseason. With the opportunity to make that type of money, I'd be knocking people's heads off, hustling all over, and busting my ass. But, we'll see Packers lollygagging again this year.
