NFL 2023 Black Monday Thread

I still think ML is safe as along as Murphy is team president.
I’m not convinced of that. You get 2 more non playoff years especially with playoff expansions he’s got some questions to be answered

I'm more than willing to go on record saying that I could envision a coach going 8-9, following three 13 win seasons, losing his job. If he's been riding the coattails of a QB that made things happen, and that's what the front office believes, he could easily be sent packing over one bad year.

I watch the goings on with the Dallas Cowboys, and even though they may do fairly decent in the playoffs, McCarthy's job rests on the shoulders of a moody QB, not of his choosing, but that of Jerry Jones, as to whether or not he gets fired.

Face it. Jones would rather blame McCarthy than admit he has been too much in love with Dak Prescott. All that matters to people in the front office is what you did for me recently.

I really hope ML gets a shot to prove himself without AR's "help". Plus, I'd like the next coach to be chosen by a different leadership group in the F.O. At this point I'd be fine with waiting until Murphy is gone, along with maybe Gute. If you're going to start over, might as well really start over. I don't see any point in firing ML in the next 2 years, unless things go completely in the tank, and letting Murphy and Gute make the decision on a new coach.

In some ways every coach rides the coattails of his QB to some extent. Look at New England post Brady as the poster child. Baltimore 2 losses in a row without Jackson. Dallas might not be the best example with the owner essentially being the FO. He’s never going to take the blame or heat.

Just joking - a bit. I know he's not in jeapordy.

But, if he doesn't have his players inspired to play hard and smart for 60 minutes, he should be on tge hot seat.
Again he just got a BIG extension...he's not on the hot seat nor will he be after next year. GB doesn't roll like that...should they? That's a whole thread in itself.

Bec

Because it was the offense that gave up a 27 point lead..
Whole separate issue but that offense was hard to watch, very reminiscent of the MM offense that relied on winning 1 on 1 match ups across the board. Hard to believe a QB would WANT to live in that world but I know at least one that does...
