Though look at the millions some donors give to schools. It can be said giving millions away just to get your name on the place can be foolish.

I remember one "booster" for a college, who wanted this star football player to date his daughter, who was an athlete. His plan was that he'd get her pregnant, and with luck, it would be a son, who could become a great football star for his alma mater. He did everything he could to get it to happen, but it didn't. He found out later, his daughter was not into men. He damned near disowned her.

A lot of people with way too much old money do live in fantasy worlds. They don't know what it is to labor under adverse conditions to get somewhere. They take everything for granted. Anything they conjur up in their minds is acceptable, because they can use money to make it happen.
