Late game tournament heartbreak? Let’s just say the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball program is used to it and it happened again on Tuesday night. No. 23 UCLA hit a lay-up with less than a second left on the shot clock and the game clock, leading them to a 72-70 win over Wisconsin. Too harsh on the ratings? I don't think so. Guys who should have put down a few points didn't. I don't know if it was an off night, or they're pouting because they aren't getting floor time like they want. They are capable of scoring and playing D, just not doing it off the bench.

It's now up to Gard and his assistants. Guys need to step up. They need to coach them into wanting to do it, and making it happen. You only play well when you have the confidence to play well.

Pritzl, as an example, has all the tools to be a solid 6th man off the bench, and capable of providing fire power with 3s. He's already shown he can do it, now it's time to make it rain threes when he's in there. If he does, he can be a super star in his own right. He also stepped up his game on defense, and that's an added plus. The perfect guy to have as a back up for Trice and Davison. He can bring energy to the court.

As far as the big guys, as subs, they should have already started to show what they have, but are falling behind for some reason. It has to change, and it has to change now, or this season is going to go down the tubes from a lack of depth.

Now we have to see if Gard can coach them up, and get them to give all they really have.
