I hope we hear from this guy soon. GB is being very slow rolling these guys out.
Agreed, we still even't had a Philbin press conference yet, and he was hired like what, 4-5 days ago?
here's a podcast with tauscher and wilde talking to jim leonhard about his experiences with pettine.
So reports Fangio still not resigned with Bears so was Packers interest in him not true or did he want to much money or did he tell MM he wanted to pick his own assistants
I read a good piece along those same lines. Looks like Rex Ryan is singing his praises for Pettine. I look forward to seeing what he can do with the defense.
I think he is holding out for a Asst HC title or so I read in the Sun Times last night.
I like the pick just because I've seen him talking a lot about tailoring your scheme to the players you have. Which is not what Capers did. I was surprised MM didn't talk too or interview more people for the job though. Seems a little rushed.
I suspect they are waiting until the rest of the staff is set before they do a press conference. They probably don't want these guys (Philbin and Pettine) fielding questions about open positions. Things will probably get finalized by early next week and they'll have a presser to introduce the whole staff.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Pettine. Worried about the complexity, but have read several stories now about him tailoring the defense to the players he's got. Dials down the complexity for guys who can't handle it and has other guys who are more capable do more things. Hopefully he can identify those two groups quickly.
Or was it another media concoction? Rumors Running Rampant season.
i believe that the packers had genuine interest in fangio. but there are any number of reasons that it didn't happen. not the east of which would be that the interview with pettine went so well that the packers did not feel the need to pursue fangio any further.
