On Adams vs Nelson. Adams has caught 63% when the target, Nelson 60%. Based on 100 targets, that means he only catches 3 more than Nelson. Also, Nelson's target distance is roughly half the distance of Adams, since he's ran the in routes with Hundley at QB. He also draws double teams, where Adams doesn't.
Now, why is there better chemistry with Hundley & Adams vs Hundley & Nelson? Practice! Adams did a lot of practice with Hundley & the second team, while Nelson didn't.
To put it bluntly, Nelson has been the victim of familiarity, and chemistry, which is an important part of any QB/WR success.
Letting him get away, because he's going to be overpaid isn't really a wise consideration. He's still the best WR we have, and with Nelson and Rodgers on the field next year, they'll go back to proving it.
