New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers: How we see it

Brett Hundley will make his first NFL start at quarterback when the Packers host the New Orleans Saints, Sunday, at Lambeau Field.

Hundley, in replace of an injured Aaron Rodgers, last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings had his moments, bur also threw three interceptions in the Packers 23-10 loss.

Sunday, with a full week of preparation, Hundley faces an improved Saints defense that ranks 13th overall and 20th against the pass.

Here’s how the staff of bobmcginn.com sees the game.

BOB McGINN: As long as the starting tackles stay on the field Brett Hundley will be just fine. He’ll make some plays throwing and running, cut back on his mistakes and acquit himself well. The question is, will the defense hold up its end of the bargain against a solid offense?

CHARLIE McGINN: It’s officially Brett Hundley time. With a week to prepare, will the the Packers offense be able to keep pace with Drew Brees and company? My gut tells me no. New Orleans enters this tilt with a three game winning streak and momentum on their side. The Saints get the lead early, force Hundley into passing situations and leave Lambeau with their fourth straight win. New Orleans 24, Green Bay 17

ROB REISCHEL: The football world eagerly awaits Brett Hundley’s first NFL start. The guess here is it should be a successful one. There is precious little film of Hundley, New Orleans ranks 27th in passing defense, Mike McCarthy has had seven days to devise a game plan to Hundley’s strength, and the home crowd should be at a fevered pitch. Look for Green Bay to win a shootout and ride into the bye week on a high. Green Bay 30, New Orleans 27

MARK ECKEL: A young quarterback named Brett, a head coach named Mike, we’ve seen this before, right? If Hundley/McCarthy are going to replicate Favre/Holmgren they’re going to need time, like more than a week. The Packers give a valiant effort, but Drew Bree’s and a suddenly-good Saints defense prove to be too much. New Orleans 23, Green Bay 20
