Green Bay will miss nearly half of its draft class over the next month due to an NFL rule.

The NFL has some puzzling rules, but one that can have an impact on a player's rookie year is the requirement that players who are still enrolled in school may only participate in rookie minicamp as long as their college's term is in session. For a few players who attend schools on the quarter system, which typically run through early June, that means that unless they graduate early, they will have to miss most of OTAs and the spring offseason program.

That is the case for three of the Green Bay Packers' seven draft picks this year, most notably their top selection. It seems that Pac-12 schools are some of the last ones to work on the quarter system instead of on semesters, and so with the Packers drafting several Pac-12 players, it is more of an issue this year than most.

Last year, wide receiver Ty Montgomery had the same issue but was able to absorb the playbook well during his time away and assimilated into the offense quickly in training camp. That means that this may not be an issue for these three rookies in 2016, but they will need to do their homework and keep up with their workouts while they are back in California.

Blake Martinez graduated early, which means that he will not have to return to school during OTAs. However, Kenny Clark, Trevor Davis, and Kyle Murphy all will be barred from participating until their quarters are over because they are still enrolled in school.

The process under the current CBA makes it remarkably easy for teams and agents to come to agreements on rookie contracts, and that's a good thing for everybody who's focused on the on-field work.

Captain America vs. Iron Man isn't the only civil war going on this week - now it's Pete Dougherty (of the Green Bay Press-Gazette) vs. Bob McGinn on whether the Packers should have drafted Jack. It's probably no surprise that McGinn preaches caution and trusting the medical staff over taking a big chance on Jack's knee.

Crockett Gives Packers Value At Running Back | Cheesehead TV
Like many of you, I was surprised that the Packers did not draft a running back this year, but John Crockett may have been granted the third-string job by default.

Justin Britt, Seattle's second-round pick in 2014, will now have played three different positions in three different years: right tackle, left guard, and now center. Think Seattle is starting to regret trading away Max Unger yet?

It's just rookie minicamp, Robert. Take it down just a notch.
