If you're looking for a wideout in the NFL Draft, history suggests that day two is the best time to take one.

Welcome to the offseason.

Yes, yes, the offseason has technically been underway for months, but the Green Bay Packers' offseason workout program begins today. With OTAs and Minicamp scheduled for later on in May and June, the next few weeks are an opportunity for players to finish rehabbing injuries and get themselves in the right frame of mind for practices to begin.

You can be assured that most, if not all members of the Packers' roster will be present from now until mid-June, thanks in large part to the team's use of workout bonuses. In fact, the Packers pay out more money in workout bonuses than any other team in the NFL - by over a million dollars.

Meanwhile, we have less than two weeks to go until the 2016 NFL Draft, and we will continue to look at prospects and rankings and strategies over the next ten days. That continues in today's curds with an examination of when to draft wide receivers.

Future at running back not entirely clear for Packers | Packers.com

Packers' Ty Montgomery continues steady comeback from ankle injury - ESPN
Montgomery's ankle continues to keep him off the field and will not allow him to participate fully in the start of offseason workouts, but he and his head coach are still optimistic that he'll be full-go by training camp.

Is Playoff Bye A Must For Packers? | Cheesehead TV
The argument here is that a bye is critical for a team that has such an early bye week. Perhaps not getting a bye week would not be a death sentence, but top seeds have had a good track record in getting to the Super Bowl the last few years.

NFL teams should think twice before drafting a wide receiver in the 1st round - SBNation.com
This is a lesson that Ted Thompson knows well - he has never drafted a wideout in round one and his most productive picks (Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Greg Jennings) were second-rounders.

Kevin White expected to be full-go for Bears workouts - NFL.com
Speaking of first-round wide receivers, Chicago is expecting to get its top draft pick from 2015 on the field this offseason as he eyes his first NFL game action later this year.
