A rookie Packer looks to make a big step forward in his second year, while a Packer legend is making a quick transition to television now that his playing days are behind him.

Former Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson was an excellent player on the field for both franchises, but it is his class off the field that made him a living legend for those two franchises and across the NFL as a whole. It should come as no surprise, then, that his first gig after retiring from playing in the NFL is to get one of the higher-profile analysis jobs that will allow him to stay around the game that he loves and maintain the relationships he has built in the league.

Meanwhile, a player at the beginning of his NFL career is looking for a big step up from the practice squad, where he spent his 2015 season. He has a great mentor in Mike Daniels, a great attitude, and some great ability just waiting to be harnessed. If he can take the second-year jump that head coach Mike McCarthy talks to much about, Christian Ringo could end up being a steal from last year's draft.

Check out these pieces and much more in today's curds.

Ringo, a sixth-round pick a year ago, spent the entire season toiling on the practice squad. Based on the comments from his teammates and from Ringo himself, he should be on the 53-man roster next season and should get a chance to compete for real playing time on Sundays.

Congrats to Chuck, who will replace Keyshawn Johnson on the set. That's a huge upgrade to be sure, and it's nice to see him transitioning quickly to life after football.

T.J. Lang has never been shy about saying what he really thinks online or in the media, and it's clear that he is not a fan of potentially playing a fifth preseason game this season.

Challenge for Green Bay Packers punter Tim Masthay: Just do your job - ESPN
Masthay appears to lack the short memory that is required at some other positions like cornerback. Instead, he has been guilty in the past of letting a bad punt or two affect him for the rest of a game, if not longer.

NFL scout Dave-Te Thomas breaks down one of the rising names in this year's defensive tackle class - Rankins plays at a similar size to Mike Daniels and Geno Atkins, and should make some NFL team very happy.

So there is your answer as far as FA. TT looking within at his PS guys again. Off season in GB is like watching paint dry.

Actually, sometimes as paint dries, it can change color and everything. It can be quite a bit more fun than watching Ted operate. ;)

I wish they would gracefully find a way to retire Thompson. I would love to see Schneider come home. They have articles out here constantly talking about which players are definitely Seahawks targets. I don't want Ted to spend just to spend. But the Packers have been lacking a game changing TE and ILB for way too long. It's frustrating.
