New Mexico's program is run on a shoe-string. It's not their fault, it's the system, and the fact that they aren't in a big market conference, and don't have the base population to make their program more successful. They keep the doors open on their program by taking on road games like the Badgers. They may make nearly as much money with the visitors money they get than they will in their entire TV share from games during the year.

New Mexico's sports programs have been operated at a fairly substantial loss. Games like this help reduce that amount significantly. It's difficult for them to recruit, and their facilities aren't state of the art like you see in Madison.

These teams allow themselves to be patsies, so their programs survive. This game shouldn't be an different.
