Who doesn’t want to spend late November on the island of Maui? That’s exactly what the Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball program is going to do and after months of waiting they also now know who they’ll be facing to open up the tournament.

On Tuesday, the Maui Jim Maui Invitational bracket was released and the Badgers will face the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the tournament. The Badgers will take on the Volunteers on Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2. The winner of the UW-UT match-up will take on the winner of Georgetown and Oregon on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2.

It will be the first meeting for these two teams since a 2001 visit to the Kohl Center by the Vols, one in which UW eked out a 65-62 victory during Bo Ryan’s first season at the helm of the program.

This year’s Maui Jim Maui Invitational is one of the most loaded in tournament history, featuring four preseason top 25 teams and two of the four No. 1 seeds from last year’s tournament. Other teams in the field include Georgetown, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, UConn and host Chaminade.

Here is a look at the complete bracket:

Really nice tournament. That potential 2nd Rd match-up with Oregon would be a good one as well.
