  • Pads today
Limited: TE Josiah Deguara (ACL Recovery)

Injuries: OT David Bakhtiari (PUP ACL), TE Dominique Dafney (PUP Knee), DT Kingsley Keke (NFI Ankle), CB Kevin King (NFI Hamstring), OLB Za'Darius Smith (NFI Back), CB Will Redmond (NFI Foot), LB Isaiah McDuffie (NFI Hamstring), OLB Randy Ramsey (?), LB Kamal Martin (?)

Offense:

  • TE Josiah Deguara is coming off the PUP list.
  • Deguara going through tackles drills with the doughnut along with everyone else.
  • Love squeezes one in to Amari. SJC great coverage but it didn't matter.
  • Winfree beats Jaire off the line but the throw is low. Incomplete.
  • Sternberger makes easy work of Black.
  • AR back shoulder to EQ, incomplete, EQ turned a little late.
  • Cobb with a veteran route against Sullivan for the win.
  • Nice job by Reggie Begelton fighting through tough contact by Darnell Savage at the top of his route to break open and win his one on one.
  • Stokes holding Funchess would have been called.
  • Crawford beats Uphoff.
  • Rodgers beats SJC easy from the slot.
  • Sternberger turns Black around and then makes a sick one handed catch.
  • MVS beats Jaire deep for a td.
  • Funchess nice inside route on Chandon.
  • Stokes has no confidence in coverage right now. Winfree with an easy easy win.
  • Gaines with perfect coverage but a sick late hands pluck by Begelton.
  • Amari beats SJC, but SJC gets grabby.
  • Another fantastic one-handed catch by Sternberger against Black. Sternberger is owning this drill today.
  • Winfree had Alexander beat clean on a go route during one on ones but pass was overthrown. Really nice release by Winfree.
  • MVS with a deep td over Stokes, beat him on a double move.
  • End 1v1
  • Jenkins Runyan Myers Braden Turner 1st team OL
  • Defense loses Lazard who’s sent in motion pre-snap. Easy pitch and catch for big gain up sideline. With Adrian Amos barreling at him on the left sideline, Rodgers dropped a fade route perfectly to Lazard, away from what would have been a hard hit. Terrific touch.
  • Nice inside run from Dexter who continues his strong camp.
  • Nice cut by Patrick Taylor who then shows off a little power colliding with a DB. So excited to see Taylor get a chance in preseason.
  • Offensive line is doing work right now. Back to back to back nice runs by Dex, Taylor, and now Dillon.
  • Hill and Taylor both getting reps with the 2s.
  • Nice job by Isaac Nauta in pass pro, picked up Tipa 1x1.
  • Dillon & Amari in the backfield, that's a look.
  • Patrick in at RG with 1s now. As MLF said, going to be competition there.
  • Jace Sternberger getting some work with the ones. Haven’t seen much of that so far in camp.
  • Toss on a misdirection to Amari for a nice gain.
  • Nice job by Isaac Nauta in pass pro, picked up Tipa 1x1.
  • Love finds who else but Juwann Winfree for a nice completion.
  • Laser over the middle from Love to Begelton in team. Tough catch in traffic. Haven’t heard much from Begelton this camp but he’s come alive today.
  • Strong hands by MVS on comeback route, Stokes hits him right as ball gets there. Kenny Clark had busted through for a pressure (maybe sack) on Rodgers as well.
  • Dillon has Campbell beat up the right sideline on a wheel but Rodgers throws it juuuust out of his reach. Nice route from Dillon.
  • Newman at RG with 2s
  • Love to Funchess for a nice gain. Love is having a nice start to practice. Heflin with a pressure. Uphoff in coverage.
  • Another comebacker from Love to Begelton to end team period. Good day for Reggie
  • Solid team period for Jordan Love — Good zip on an out route to Winfree on the right. Complete over the middle to Begelton. Another out route to Funchess.
  • Rodgers, nothing but net from 45 yards Video | Video2 Rodgers, if my eyes didn’t deceive me, then smiled, pointed at his right bicep, then looked and pointed at team president Mark Murphy. Murphy was laughing right back at him.
  • A continuing trend - a wide receiver wide open in team drills. This time Adams over the middle. Kinda need to keep an eye on him.
  • Nice hole for Jones running behind Patrick/Turner/Lewis.
  • Packers tried to quick snap the defense but WR wasn’t set and it’s a quick incompletion.
  • Rodgers throwing darts today. Barnes had food coverage in middle of the field but perfectly placed to Tonyan over the shoulder.
  • Rodgers looking for Funchess on deep crosser but wasn’t there.
  • Rodgers and Jones in the backfield together, quick throw to Amari but Rodgers threw it short, incomplete.
  • Pressure by Preston Smith but Rodgers rolls out and throws a 45 yard dime on the run to Lazard. Perfect pass. - Aaron Rodgers puts the crown on Allen Lazard after a roll out TD throw. That’s Lazard’s move
  • 2nd team offense: Love to Amari on a hitch, moves the chains.
  • Rollout right to a wide-open Sternberger. 1st Down.
  • Bad snap forces 3rd & Long before the Love int.
  • 1st team 2min -Tonyan splits the zone and sits down perfectly between Amos and Barnes. First down.
  • Short completion to Dillon.
  • Quick throw to Cobb for a sliding catch.
  • Right back to Cobb for back to back 6 yard gains in 2 min drill.
  • Two incompletions. False start. 10-yard checkdown to Jones.
  • The Love Begelton connection opens twos two minute, 1st down.
  • Another Love to Begelton, this time on an out.
  • Love now attempts a deep ball to Beggelton but he just barely missed coming down with it.
  • Rodgers finds Jones easily over the middle for a touchdown in red zone.
  • Love to Amari easy money td with SJC in coverage.
  • Love completed another pass to Begelton in developmental period.
Defense:

  • LB Ray Wilborn removed from the COVID list.
  • New d-line addition Josh Avery is here.
  • LB Kamal Martin seems to be missing. He dropped out of Tuesday’s practice with what appeared to be a knee injury.
  • Isaiah McDuffie and Dominque Dafney both look good running off to the side. Hopefully that means they are both close to returning.
  • Kenny Clark just manhandled Lucas Patrick in one on ones
  • Nice PBU by Jackson in Lazard after sticky coverage.
  • Josh Jackson wins his first one on one with Davante. One to tell the grandkids about.
  • Diving PBU by Scott on Nauta
  • Innis Gaines INT
  • Ento couldn’t get head turned. Got lucky to fall incomplete.
  • Really good one on one battle between Elgton Jenkins and Rashan Gary. Jenkins handled Gary’s speed rush on first rep, but Gary came back with a bull to win the second. Two athletic studs there.
  • End 1v1
  • Coverage sack by defense on first pass play. Rodgers looking for Adams, Stokes close by.
  • Vernon Scott breaks up a Love pass intended for Funchess on a corner, little too much air on that one.
  • First team LBs: Campbell and Barnes. Second team: Summers and Burks
  • Lancaster Clark Lowry first team IDL
  • Rodgers goes deep up the left sideline to Adams but Stokes does a great job using the sideline as his help and basically gives Davante nowhere to go but out of bounds. Nice rep from the rookie.
  • Kenny Clark said enough with the big runs - stuffs Jones at the LOS.
  • Lowry deflects a pass at the LOS.
  • That Gary bull rush >>> right thru the RT (couldn’t tell who it was—not Turner).
  • Dean Lowry explodes into the backfield for about a 3 yard loss on Jones.
  • Vernon Scott and Henry Black getting lots of reps at safety. Will be interesting to see where Redmond lands on the depth chart when he's back.
  • Preston pressure from blindside forces Rodgers to dirt the ball.
  • CB Jaire Alexander getting snaps in the slot. First I can recall that happening this camp (unless I missed it). Jackson and Stokes outside.
  • Delontae Scott, Willington Previlon and Carlo Kemp meet at the QB for a would be sack of Love.
  • Clark through for a pressure but Rodgers scrambles for a few yards.
  • Love with a very ill advised wobbler throw in the end zone trying to squeeze it to Begelton that is easily picked off by Christian Uphoff.
  • Stokes ending today’s practice strong. Great coverage on Sternberger on a deep corner.
  • 4th & 5, Aaron Rodgers witha Hail Mary, Jaire picks it off. The Hail Mary goes right to Funchess, but he doesn’t make a move for it.1st team 2 minute drill ends.
  • Love tries hitting Sternberger over the middle but Campbell makes a diving play on the ball. Probably should have been a pick, but nice play regardless.
  • In five cracks at the 2-minute, Aaron Rodgers went 1-for-2 (TD to Lazard, INT on Hail Mary) and Jordan Love went 0-for-3 (turnover on downs twice and INT).
  • Great play by Ento to breakup a Benkert fade intended for Funchess.
  • Gaines gets an INT off a Benkert deep ball in developmental.
Special Teams:

  • A loud ovation for backup kicker JJ Molson in the donut tackling drill. Yep…it’s Day 7
  • Crosby hits first seven FG. I think he was wide left from 58 on last one.

Practice has ended at: 12:10 PM CT

Next event is: Family Night | August 7th

Press Conference Notes:

Matt LaFleur
Presser

  • Matt LaFleur says TE Josiah Deguara, who is recently off PUP, will be limited to individual work today: "We're going to slowly integrate him back into the flow of things."
  • When asked if there's anything Rodgers does that LaFleur doesn't want Love doing ( like Favre), LaFleur walks a hilariously fine line of explaining that Rodgers doesn't always follow the rules on canning plays, quickly adding that it's for a reason and 12 is usually right.
  • Matt LaFleur says he has "a feel" for what Jordan Love can do, but it's different when a QB gets live snaps, which he has not seen. He says a big gap between Love and Aaron Rodgers is their autonomy at LOS. Love's duties at line are simplified. "Indecisive equals ineffective."
  • "We're super-excited to have our fans back in the stands," LaFleur says of Family Night.
  • Matt LaFleur confirms what he hinted at yesterday: there will be live tackling at the end of Family Night in a full 11-on-11 session. Treating it like a 1st preseason game.
  • LaFleur says the thing that he remembers about his first family night is that he couldn’t believe that many people showed up to watch a practice.
  • LaFleur on Jordan Love scrambling: "Certainly we don't ever want to pass up an open receiver to go off schedule. I think he has the athleticism to manipulate and move up in the pocket... Ultimately, it's such a feel thing. You always want the QB to keep his eyes downfield."

Jordan Love:

QB Jordan Love said he found out Rodgers was coming back on his way back to Green Bay. His agent let him know. "I didn't know what to expect from it," he said of the situation. "It's great to have Aaron back."

Love said he had to convince himself he was going to be the starter all off-season because there was that possibility. He said he didn't ask Rodgers about his situation when they talked. "I had to get myself ready for the season," he said.

Jordan Love said that he and WR Reggie Begelton were not on the same page when he threw the interception in the move-the-ball drill. He thought Begelton was going to take the route in a different direction and threw it where he thought he'd be.

Love said that he will absolutely try to follow through on the play Matt LaFleur calls when he gets into the games, but speaking of moving around and/or scrambling, he said, "If there's a play to be made, I'll make it."

Sounds like Stokes will be typical pick lots of growing pains. Probably should not start but will because of draft status. Teams will attack him and he will learn by battle of fire.

He starts as a slot

These camp reports are fantastic! You get a real feel for who's busting their butt to be part of this team, and who's coasting.

I like what I'm reading about several players who may contribute this year.
And seeing Kevin King hurt. I am shocked I tell you shocked! He's NEVER hurt.

According to the NFL transaction wire, the #Packers claimed OLB/DE Chauncey Rivers from Baltimore. They are short at OLB with Randy Ramsey and Kamal Martin both injured.
