Practice Starts at: 10:10 AM CT

General:

  • Matt LaFleur noted that all those new injuries aren't serious but might be out for a week or two.
  • Pads today.
  • Jones is out for the preseason as a precaution.
Not Practicing: Aaron Jones (Hamstring), Kenny Clark (Groin), EQSB (Hamstring), Juwann Winfree (Shoulder), Chris Blair (Ankle), CB Stanford Samuels (?)

Injuries: OT David Bakhtiari (PUP ACL), DT Kingsley Keke (NFI Ankle), CB Kevin King (NFI Hamstring), OLB Za'Darius Smith (NFI Back), CB Will Redmond (NFI Foot), LB Isaiah McDuffie (NFI Hamstring), OLB Randy Ramsey (Ankle), LB Kamal Martin (Knee)

Offense:

  • Cobb over Chandon in one on ones. Nice grab by Cobb. Solid coverage.
  • Nauta turned around Henry Black but dropped the pass.
  • Amari Rodgers play of the day for sure. Awesome separation from Savage and an absolute incredible diving catch on a deep ball from Benkert. WOW play!!!
  • Really nice grab by Dillon up the right sideline with Barnes in tight coverage during one on ones.
  • Awesome battle in goaline 1x1s between MVS and Stokes. Great coverage but MVS skies for the catch. However he’s ruled out of bounds.
  • Adams vs. Alexander in RedZone — clean release, TD to the corner from Benkert.
  • Taylor beats Ento.
  • Nauta beats Vernon Scott.
  • Wow play by Funchess who absolutely Moss’d Josh Jackson. Beat Jackson clean off the line on a slant, and then again on a fade to the corner. Huge play by Funchess.
  • Amari beats Henry Black who has really struggled in coverage during camp.
  • Lazard contested catch. Nice play.
  • Elgton Jenkins is unbeatable in one-on-one drills. He takes care of Preston Smith twice, burying him on the second rep. Sure looks like left tackle is in capable hands until David Bakhtiari returns.
  • End 1v1s start team
  • Ben Braden is at LG with the ones to start team period.
  • Deguara working at H back with the ones again.
  • Rodgers scrambles left, finds Lazard for 20. He shook Stokes on a post corner(?) and was left wide open.
  • Dillon goes in motion out of the backfield and Rodgers hands off to Amari Rodgers. Not much there though.
  • Nice run by Kylin Hill. And then another one. Packers found a gem in Kylin Hill.
  • I swear to god Dexter Williams just did the James Jones windmill arm as he tried to cut back side.
  • Tonyan catches EVERYTHING. What an unreal last minute adjustment to make a deep catch on a shot play from 12. roughly 40 yards, with tight coverage from Alexander and Savage on one of the nicest throw and catches of camp so far. Savage just a hair late on knocking it down. Tonyan's a true camp standout in every way.
  • Love tries to loft a ball over the defense that should have been picked off. Instead just deflected away. Those are the plays Love needs to clean up.
  • Patrick Taylor showing off some impressive vision on a nice run.
  • Marcedes Lewis just caught a pass from Aaron Rodgers in the left flat for about 10 yards. That might have been his first catch of camp, by my recollection. Incredible play fake by Rodgers, finds Big Dog on the backside and Elgton Jenkins is right there to lead the way. Big man was running and LOOKING for someone to hit….
  • Kylin Hill getting some run with the 1s as well with Jones out.
  • Defense runs a game against Jenkins and Braden, Braden picks it up and Rodgers hits Cobb.
  • Love with a dart to Amari Rodgers to move the ball.
  • A truly impressive cut by Patrick Taylor who is such a unique plant of burst and power. I’m super excited to watch him in preseason.
  • Aaron Rodgers flushes pocket right, carries all the way to sideline, buys enough time to find Davante Adams wide open for about 20 yards.
  • Rodgers fires a ball from pocket to Robert Tonyan for a TD.
  • If today's reps are any indication, Kylin is currently #3 on the depth chart behind Jones and Dillon.
  • Still tons of movement, misdirection, and motion in this Matt LaFleur offense.
  • Really strong day from Patrick Taylor today. He’s doing his best to make up for lost time.
  • When Love uncorks a pass, it’s a laser. Fastball to Malik Taylor on a slant.
  • Love to Sternberger over the middle for a big pickup in 2 minute. Nice throw from Love.
  • Love with a gorgeous pump and go to Thompkins deep down the right sideline. He beat Hollman. Would have been a touchdown but coaches decide to place the ball at the 9 to give Love more challenge apparently.
Defense:

  • Rashan Gary is back practicing. Took 1st reps with the 1s in team but sat out 1v1s.
  • Redmond, King, and Blair getting some work in on the side. Hopefully all three can return soon.
  • Innis Gaines int in one on ones. The best udfa at camp so far IMO.
  • Gaines just made another diving pass breakup in one on ones.
  • Savage diving pbu vs Sternberger.
  • Henry Black with an INT.
  • Savage with great coverage on Sternberger.
  • Slaton with the ones on defense again with Clark out. Lancaster at NT. Stokes starter at CB opposite Jaire.
  • Jack Heflin gets an early look with the ones on defense.
  • Rodgers has all day to throw off play action but nowhere to go. Defense had great coverage.
  • Packers are currently with a 4-man defensive line. Interesting. Lowry, Slaton, Heflin, Lancaster. Wasn’t a goaline or run-stopping situation.
  • TJ Slaton deflects a Rodgers pass at the LOS. With Clark out he's running with the 1s at NT.
  • Jonathan Garvin knives through for a would-be sack/pressure. Got a bit too close to Rodgers feet but nice play.
  • What a play by Adrian Amos who ranges over from center field to almost pick off a Rodgers throw on a wheel route to Deguara. Amos should have picked it but it bounces off his hands. A bit too much air from 12.
  • Waiver claim Chauncey Rivers just swam past Kelly for a sacK. Very sudden movement on the rush.
  • Delontae Scott with a stuff at the LOS.
  • Tipa out there with the ones during 2 minute.
  • Jaire with perfect coverage on a deep ball to Tae.
  • Rodgers uncorks a deep ball to MVS down the right sideline. May have had a step on Jaire Alexander, but Jaire put up his hand at the last second. Deflection. Incomplete. In the end zone no less.
  • Phenomenal play by Christian Uphoff with a diving pass breakup. Love was looking to find Amari.
  • Number 2 offense 2 min drive stalls at the 5. He overthrew Malik Turner out back off end zone on fourth and goal. Love was 3-7 for 57 yards on the drive.
Special Teams:

  • Some starters showing up on punt team: Adrian Amos, Allen Lazard, Robert a Tonyan. Amos is the personal protector.
  • Cobb and Amari returning punts.

Press Conference Notes:

Matt LaFleur
Presser

  • Matt LaFleur says Jordan Love will play the majority of Saturday’s game against the Texans and Kurt Benkert will play some at the end. No Aaron Rodgers.
  • LaFleur says there are no long-term concerns for any of the guys who missed practice yesterday but indicates it could be a week or so before we see any of them again.
  • LaFleur says Aaron Rodgers will "most likely not" play during the preseason.
  • Matt LaFleur on preseason games: “I think it’s like anything, you don’t really appreciate it until it’s gone.” He says they’re important to evaluate young players, but Packers have several vets he feels don’t need to be exposed to preseason snaps.
  • Matt LaFleur says they need special teams from the bottom of WR depth chart, especially after losing Randy Ramsey. “Losing a guy like Rambo, that really hurt our special teams.” Ramsey was a core special teams player. LaFleur says it too early to say he’s out for season.
  • LaFleur on 2020 seventh-round pick Jonathan Garvin getting more opportunities with the injuries at edge rusher: "He's a big heavy-handed guy. He'll get a lot of time in the preseason to show what he can do."
  • Matt LaFleur says he has no update on when players still on NFI will be back on the field. “Hopefully sooner than later. … Whenever Flea will let them go.”

A year or so from now Elgton Jenkins' agent gonna be like "my guy's a left tackle suck it".

Jaire and Jenkins are easily Gute’s two best draft picks, to date.
