Hornung and Taylor were going downhill. The offensive line was aging fast. Grabowski and Anderson did a solid job of helping to keep the offense moving for a couple of years. It isn't easy following in the footsteps of two future HOF members, especially when the offensive line is a shell of what it had been, a few years earlier.

They did a solid job, but there was some animosity by several players on the team that felt that they offered so much more, and got paid a small fraction of what they made. I won't mention names, but on different evenings at a local watering hole where I visited, and so did players, comments were made, while having drinks, and playing liars dice with a few players. It was understandable.

No matter, they weren't bad players, they were caught in a tough position to shine, but did well enough that they helped keep the Packer machine afloat for a short period of time.

Agree TW. I think both were solid backs. Not as talented as the guys they were replacing but good enough to be part of a championship quality team. As you say, by that point things were starting to deteriorate all over that team. OL still had a quality OT in Gregg and an adequate OC in Bowman, but other guys were getting over the hill.
