Like it, Love it or Hate it? Surprised there isn't a thread about it yet.

I like it. He gives the DL depth and doesn't break the bank. He is a really good run stuffer and can fill in for Guion immediately. I think it may even be an upgrade over Guion. For 3 million he is worth the chance to provide DL depth.

I wasn't a fan of bringing him in if he wanted a lot of $.. But for that price he's an immediate upgrade over anyone we have not named Daniels. And could conceivably push Daniels a little. So definitely a good signing.

Seems like a solid signing at that price. These are the types of low-cost roster depth signings I hope for every year. We know Guion is out for 4 games. That means we need to get important snaps from Lowry, Price or Ringo. None of those 3 have done enough to make me feel better about putting them out there for more than a handful of snaps. A guy like Francois is a veteran that I think can give you 15-20 snaps a game and he'll mostly get the job done.

Ricky Jean Francois' one-year deal with the Packers is worth $2 million. Here's the breakdown for the veteran defensive tackle: $250,000 signing bonus; $1.25 million base salary; $400,000 roster bonus ($25,000 per game active); $100,000 workout bonus. Only the signing bonus is guaranteed.

20 years ago, who would have thought that when a player is making $2,000,000 a year we would ever have said we are getting off cheap? in 1997 Favre was extended for 7 years at 46 million making him the highest paid player in the NFL. Now it takes more than 20 million/year to get you in the top 10.
