I'm a Believer!

No matter what happens the rest of the year, the Badgers have proven that Paul Chryst and his staff are doing a great job. It's also opened the door for even more walk-on players, and guys who choose to play for the team they've cheered for over the years. When you have that commitment, and allegiance, you have the makings of great teams.

A big thank you to Pat Richter for getting the ball rolling on a truly great national football program. It was him, who convinced Barry Alvarez to become Wisconsin's head coach, and keeping him there, when others tried to lure him away. In the end, they created the family that is now Wisconsin football at it's best. Someday, I'd like to see these two guys honored, like they should be, for what they did for Wisconsin sports across the board. These two are real winners.

Other than naming streets after them, or naming the field after them (or bringing baseball back?), not sure what more they could do.

Also, I've forgotten how awful the WI Athletic HOF website is, and how much worse some of those busts are.

You can't do too much to honor them. When Donna Shalala made it a point to tab Richter after the fiasco we had with boosters, and poor organization, she found exactly what the school needed, and the rest? Well, it's history.

You do more to honor them by filling the seats for every venue, and insisting that all coaches live up to, and coach, at the level that Richter and Alvarez have demonstrated. Mark Johnson is a prime example of success brought on by his dedication to the game. Now it's time for other coaches, and the fan base, to step up, and show everyone how much we support the programs. That's one of the biggest honors you can bestow upon Pat and Barry.

Sheesh, you guys are hardcore Badger football fans. It's good to read what you guys are sharing.

For the past few seasons the Badgers weren't playing in town whenever I picked a Packer game to attend. It has been a few years since I've been to a game at Camp Randall. In fact, I think the last one was when the Badgers upset #1 ranked Ohio State and the Wisconsin fans rushed down until the entire school was on the field.

I recall one year I sat beside an old fellar who explained to me how he'd given up on Packer football and how enjoyed Badger football much more. When he started moaning about the Packers I cringed a bit, but I got the gist of what he was saying.

Anyhow, I can't chime in much here cuz I'm still in the dark when it comes to this year's team.
Heck, I still haven't seen them even on TV yet this season.

Keep "believing."

This year's Badger football team is "pretty good." How good we'll know in about 3 weeks. At this point, wins over LSU and Michigan State are what we point at as being our reasoning. They were both rated top 10 in the nation.

What makes this year so interesting for us is the fact that we have a new coach. This is his second year. We are now seeing a few of his young recruits on the field, and seeing the results he's getting from his new assistant coaches, and they are doing much better than any of us thought possible. It makes us hopeful that the Badgers will be in the hunt for one of the playoff spots in years to come, where they could win a national title.

I think you're right. We need to keep believing. At least we know that that light we see at the end of the tunnel is not actually a train coming at us. We've got past half of our top 10 games, and can't be worse than 2-2 against them. Not bad with a bunch of young kids still learning the ropes in college football.

I see Wisconsin Badgers aren't getting much respect as 11 point underdogs in Michigan this Saturday.
I also see that the Wolverines have dropped 11 straight games vs. Top 10 opponents. pop(

I think the spread for the game is about right to be honest. Not because I believe the Badgers aren't very good, but because I believe Michigan might be that good. They may well be the best team in the nation, and this game will prove a lot for both teams either way.

I've never believed too much in the spreads, but when it gets over 10, it's usually because everyone expects a blow out. In all honesty, I think it could be a blow out in favor of Michigan. If the Badgers win, it wouldn't be a blow out like they had against MSU. It would be close.

If Wisconsin wins, they should be elevated in the polls to a level befitting anyone who knocked off three top 10 teams in what would be considered neutral or hostile venues. It would be an enormous feat.

All that said, I wouldn't miss this game for anything. It's on my "must do" list for the weekend. I'll go swimming early in the morning, so nothing interferes with it. I do love my pool time too! thumbsup

I think this game is gonna be a battle and it's good for the B1G. This is coming from a Michigan fan. I have so much respect for the UW program much that has been described in this thread. What PC has built, what he is building, is the real deal. They will be powerhouses and contenders each year. I don't pay much attention to points spreads. I know what my eyes tell me and they tell me that the Badgers are for real. This is gonna be one helluva game.
