Kizer dreaming big again

I noticed you mentioned it as a ceiling. Couldn't agree more. If they can find a retread out there that gets caught up in a numbers game, and wants to work for minimum range wages for a QB, I'd snap him up in a heartbeat, and plug him in as #2 before we hit the preseason.

Hundley was awful at UCLA and Kizer had issues at ND. Neither has a ceiling above average backup

Yet GB sent a first round player to them for him... GB seems to still have issues in their scouting dept.?

Maybe or just a lack of talent overall at that position. You need to gamble, supply vs demand

It's weird... As I just posted in the Randall thread he was perhaps GBs best performing DB last year.. So it's not like they were trading a scrub...

I can't really dispute what you are saying about Randall. I agree he was their best DB last year, especially after King went down. I'm still not real happy about the deal but suspect it was done to acquire a QB with some experience (who they liked when they scouted him in college) to compete with Hundley. Also, it's possible they thought Randall would not fit in with Pettine's defense, both physically and in terms of being able to handle a more in-your-face coaching style. Randall seemed to rebel even with mild mannered Dom Capers around. Might have been even more of a problem with Pettine's more intense style. It was a graceful way to get Randall out of the locker room.

I see what you are saying, it's a good point. But Randall got in trouble for calling out coaches for being too lenient. I think he would have welcomed Pettine...

Fingers crossed this doesn't backfire ...

Despite being the best playmaker in the secondary by seasons end (and that's not saying much), my feeling is that Randall had become enough of a malcontent that Gute didn't want another Martellus type attitude on the team and the issues that could come with that.

Randall's meltdown in the Bears game that got him benched and then kicked off the field for arguing with the coaches was problem enough, but then in an end-of-season interview he was again calling out Packer coaches. By that time, I think, McCarthy may have had enough of him, and Gute maybe didn't want any more Peyton Place stuff happening as well.

“I’ll tell you what I told Damarious,” McCarthy said, “he needs to focus on himself. He’s got to clean his own house. That’s what I look for him to do in the offseason. He did a lot of really good things. We all understand what happened in the Chicago game, but I thought from the Chicago game on he played at a very high level. He probably played the best football of his career, but then he didn’t play the last two games.

I've been around football 35 plus years and that very well could be the most contrary statement regarding a player I've ever heard a HC say in public.

He played his best football... but?? That's bullcrap. He's payed to play football not kiss the coaches ass. This isn't HS or college. I am sorry but that quote makes me think a lot less of Mike McCarthy and the Packers organization.

I agree Mark. That's what got me thinking. He got called out then had a tantrums then went out and made a statement on the field and called those that didn't. For Pete's sake this is exactly who this too comfortable soft team needs!!! How long have we talked about a lack of fire? Needing someone to shake up things? He did, and they got rid of him. I am counting down the days to the end of the MM era...
